Initially published as U.S. Camera and Travel in 1937 focusing on travel photography, it officially changed its title to Travel and Leisure Magazine in 1971. T+L has gone on to become the preeminent voice for the sophisticated, insatiable traveler, serving up expert intelligence and the most immersive, inspiring travel lifestyle content.

Antipodean Luxury Travel works closely with T+L to bring its avid readers Black Book Experiences, cultural immersion tours, boutique honeymoons, family vacations packed with outdoor adventures, and amazing access to the most beautiful places and cultures in The Antipodes.

This includes the opportunity to experience real New Zealand Maori culture with a unique insight into a day in the life of a Maori elder. Kaumatua are the elders in Maori society and are respected for their knowledge of tribal history and traditions. They are the keepers of the accumulated history of our people.

Whanaungatanga – Family
Our sense of family connections is important to us. This extends to those who choose to be a part of our larger family group – they become our whanau.

Manaakitanga – Hospitality
Manuhiri (our Guests) are treated with the highest level of respect and honour when welcomed into our country, and into our communities.

Kaitiakitanga – Guardianship
As kaitiaki (guardians) of our land, we are responsible for protecting the environment and holding it in sacred trust for our grandchildren to inherit in years to come.

We believe that each vacation should be created specifically to the interests of each traveler. For instance, we recently curated a vacation for one of our US clients with a keen interest in fishing, golf, outdoor adventures and fine dining.

The itinerary unlocked privileged access to some of New Zealand’s most pristine nature with an overnight backcountry fly-fishing excursion hosted by a Sage Elite Guide, one of only two in the world, followed by a day playing a round of golf with the locals on one of the country’s most unique golf courses, Te Pohui, complete with tea and scones with the local members.

Other highlights included heli-landing on Mount Cook and exploring glaciers with local legend, Charlie Hobbs, and a delectable dining experience at the internationally acclaimed Craggy Range Restaurant, winner of two hats at the 2018 Cuisine Good Food Awards.

"I have never worked with a travel agency so knowledgeable about its region and, at the same time, so passionate about building an experience expressly customized to my needs and desires.”
