After breakfast you will be chauffeured to Queenstown’s closest ski field, Coronet Peak. A world-class ski and snowboard area with 280 hectares of skiable terrain and breath-taking views, it’s the perfect way to get your ski legs ready for your Heli-ski. Experienced skiers and riders will enjoy varied terrain from wide groomed trails to steep off-piste runs, moguls and open bowls. After a busy day up the mountain, end your day at one of Queenstown’s award-winning restaurants. Our concierge team would be delighted to arrange this for you.
Today you will be transferred to Minaret Station, located in a sheltered glacial valley high above the shores of Lake Wanaka on one of New Zealand’s iconic high country stations. Discover wild deer and chamois clambering on the surrounding slopes, cheeky Kea birds appearing from nowhere to say ‘hello’ with the only sound being the water in a nearby stream making its way downhill to the lake below. Settle in for dinner at the Mountain Kitchen – the ultimate in secluded luxury. Modern cuisine paired with an extensive cellar and bar is prepared by resident chefs using fresh local produce.
The day begins with a weather check and safety briefings, before your helicopter takes you over sparkling azure lakes and the breathtaking Southern Alps. The adrenaline rush from the helicopter is nothing compared to the feeling you get when you land on top of the ridgeline surrounded by utterly remote and otherwise inaccessible mountain faces. From here it’s all downhill through untouched powder, before breaking for a gourmet alpine picnic as you reflect on the morning’s incredible runs and look forward to even bigger vertical drops and more fresh powder in the afternoon. As the sun begins to set it is time to board the helicopter again and make your way back to your luxurious chalet, ending your day in front of a roaring fire with a glass of Central Otago Pinot Noir in hand.
