Between games, head south of Auckland for 3 Days/2 Nights Rotorua Outdoor Adventure that includes volcanos, Maori culture, fly-fishing, glow worm cave and the finest whiskey tasting…

After a hearty breakfast, you will begin your day discovering how Maori come to be in New Zealand, the land of the long white cloud. You will be formally welcomed onto a working marae that has a long history before being returned to its people. Take a helicopter from the marae, and fly to New Zealand’s only permanently active volcano Whakaari (White Island). Enjoy aerial views of the active crater before landing on this lunar like surface. Embark upon a leisurely guided tour of the island’s crater floor to view active steam vents ‘fumaroles’, hot streams, vibrant sulphur formations and the steaming crater. Upon your return, you will check-in to Treetops Lodge, a carefully managed game and wildlife habitat for sporting enthusiasts, where you will spend the next two nights.

Accommodation: Treetops Lodge & Estate

This morning you will ride up the side of dormant volcano Mt Ngongotaha by gondola, taking in spectacular views of the city, lake, and Mt Tarawera. Race down the luge – a world first fun-filled gravity ride, before exploring a prehistoric native forest by zip line. Spend the afternoon white water rafting, snaking your way through steep native bush clad canyons, or try your hand at fly-fishing at one of the most beautiful areas in the country boasting some of the best year-round brown and rainbow trout fishing in the world. Head back to the lodge and enjoy a relaxed evening of pre-dinner cocktails and canapés beside a roaring fire in the Great Room, before indulging in a five-course degustation dinner. The ever-changing menu may feature dishes such as estate wild boar moneybags served with orchid apple puree.

Choose between guided horse trekking to explore the furthest corners of the estate or pick a top-quality mountain bike and discover the lakes, streams and native bush.  Before making your way up to Auckland, you will stop off at Waitomo to discover some of New Zealand’s finest glow-worm caves. Take a boat ride through the caves decorated with stalactites and stalagmites and marvel at the twinkling illuminations from thousands of tiny glow-worms suspended from the cave ceiling.
