22 May Annandale
In the fast-paced lives we lead today, one of the biggest luxuries is time and space. Time be reconnect with your family, reconnect with your partner or reconnect with yourself. Space to exhale and to centre, to disconnect from jam-packed days juggling work, family and social commitments, to disconnect from technology.
Annandale is a very special parcel of farmland in New Zealand’s Banks Peninsula. Set in this very isolated landscape are four distinct luxury properties, each one offering total privacy and exclusivity…
The Road Less Travelled
Whichever property you choose to stay in, getting here is a magical, memorable experience in itself. Annandale is most definitely off the typical tourist trail.
Arrive by helicopter, following the rugged coastline and you’ll get to truly appreciate the vastness and beauty of this iconic farm. After landing, take your seat in a luxury 4WD, traversing clifftop farm tracks to each isolated property.
The centrepiece of the 14,000 acre farm is the historic farm homestead. This grand old villa has been exceptionally restored for discerning guests, her 19th Century architecture and original period features on show, but with high end finishing and every modern convenience you could want.
Overlooking the ocean and encircled by gorgeous gardens (including a kitchen garden you can help yourself to), the homestead offers 5 bedrooms, a beautiful infinity pool and spa pool.
World-class spa services can be arranged for guests, and if you’re keen to keep your workout routine going on holiday, there is a modern gym and tennis court.
Next is the Shepherd’s Cottage – once the humble accommodation for farmhands and now an intimate hideaway for two, referred to by Annandale as ‘gumboot luxury’ – love that.
Stay a night or two here in complete seclusion with the one you love – this is a magical setting for romance. Take in uninterrupted, sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, soak in the outdoor bath under a canopy of stars, and snuggle on sheepskin rugs in front of the cosy open fire.
The third property in the Annandale stable is our personal favourite. Scrubby Bay’s cedar-clad beach house is so named because it was purpose-designed to enjoy the rugged, remote bay on which it is positioned.
The modern hideaway has three large bedroom suites, and a huge open plan living and dining space. All of these spaces are completely open to the bay they face, yet completely private. There’s a swimming pool and spa pool, and a beautiful big open fire on the expansive deck. (Scrubby Bay also features an eight-person bunk room, making it ideal for a getaway with a big gathering of friends or family).
Last but definitely not least, there’s Seascape, an ultra modern retreat tucked into a hillside in a exquisitely beautiful private bay.
Inside, behind floor to ceiling glass walls that face the bay, is your living space, with a super king bed sitting up on a dais. Outside is a luxury outdoor lounge with fireplace and spa pool. The views, from every vantage point, are dominating and incredible – it feels as if you’re floating on the open sea.
Your Holiday, Your Way
At every one of the four retreats, you choose the activities and the level of service that suits your style.
Have every meal prepared for you by Annandale’s award-winning chefs, or we can arrange for the pantry and fridge to be stocked with all your favourite foods, superb New Zealand wines, and the best of fresh local produce to try.
Enjoy farm–to–table cooking lessons with an award winning chef, visit a local vineyard for a long lunch and cellar tasting, go deep sea fishing or whale watching off the Kaikoura Coast, or take a day-trip to Mt Cook to see New Zealand’s highest peaks and longest glaciers.
Or stay right where you are and have that well-deserved time and space. Get lost in a book or in your partner’s arms. As they say here, Annandale is all yours, and yours alone.
We love New Zealand, and we love arranging truly personalised, luxury holidays in New Zealand’s very best destinations. Ask our team to create an exclusive itinerary for you…
