24 Apr New Zealand ‘By Design’ – New Artisan Food
New Zealand has a very exciting food scene, which includes a growing number of luxury products – products that boast absolutely premium ingredients, encased in stylish, modern packaging. Here are a few of our recent favourites…
Lumojo – Gourmet Honey
Elegant styling from Lumojo’s recent launch campaign…
When it comes to honey, they say New Zealand makes the world’s best. And Lumojo takes this premium New Zealand product and packages it in the most beautiful and minimalist fashion, in handmade stoneware vessels that are just begging to be on display in your kitchen.
We love the timeless colour palette of black, off-white, soft grey, with the on-trend blush pink. Lumojo’s gourmet honey is certified to the highest international standards, and comes in two sizes, including a gift set of miniature ceramics – which we think would be perfect for a guest room or holiday home. https://www.lumojo.com
Wellington Chocolate Factory
The capital city of New Zealand is a real foodie hub, and one of Wellington’s finest is the boutique chocolatiers, Wellington Chocolate Factory (WCF).
This is not your ordinary chocolate, oh no. WCF approach chocolate as a premium winemaker would wine, layering flavour profiles and aromas to craft the ultimate sensory experience. WCF produces single-origin chocolate from freshly roasted, stone-ground cacao beans, sourced from only ethical, organic farms in South America, Africa and the Caribbean.
This bean-to-bar chocolate so pure, that you can taste the distinct flavour characteristics that come with each region. (Hints of marmalade and citrus from cacao beans grown in Dominican Republic, for example, and notes of apricot and honey from the premium Criollo bean from Peru).
To complement their beautiful handmade ethos, each flavour’s packaging features an original illustration by a contemporary New Zealand artist. http://www.wcf.co.nz
Noble & Savage Tea Merchants
Every pack includes a tasting notes card with information on the flavour profile and origin of your tea, plus brewing recommendations
Much of the Noble & Savage range is equally gorgeous as iced tea
This luxury tea brand launched just this year in New Zealand, and is already drawing in an international audience, thanks to attention from leading lifestyle and luxury magazines.
Noble & Savage produces tea using only ethically and sustainably grown leaves and flowers from the world’s finest tea estates. The range of 16 teas is the result of over 3 years of international travel, research and (thousands of) tastings by the brand’s founders, New Zealand’s Alan Hughes and Rupert Curry. Noble and Savage seeks to elevate the status of tea from a commodity to a special ritual to be savoured.
The packaging shows as much good taste as the product inside, with it’s beautiful modern styling and gold foil elements. www.nobleandsavage.com
Fix & Fogg
Fix & Fogg has a bit of a cult following in New Zealand. The fledging brand was founded by a young legal professional who left his corporate career to pursue his passion for his own handmade peanut butter. Fix & Fogg run a craft peanut buttery in inner-city Wellington, hand making peanut butter (gluten-free and GMO-free) with an ethos of honesty, quality and premium ingredients.
You can’t go past Fix & Fogg’s original smooth or crunchy, which combine nothing more than dark roast peanuts and organic sea salt. The Smoke & Fire flavour includes New Zealand grown organic cayenne chillies, natural Manuka smoke from Central Otago and Spanish smoked paprika, and is a beautiful base for a satay sauce or accompaniment to roast vegetables. And the Dark Chocolate flavour is amazing on toasted brioche or pancakes! http://www.fixandfogg.co.nz
Storm & India
Behind Storm & India’s inspiring range are two young sisters, Storm and India Bellamy. The young women have combined their knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and naturopathy with their handed-down love of and passion for tea, to create their certified organic tisanes.
Storm and India Bellamy attend events around New Zealand in their custom-designed Tea Van
The line-up of teas includes botanical elixirs and bespoke detox teas.
Storm & India packaging is designed to look beautiful on your bench – as you can see in the photos above! We think several of your favourite flavours, lined up on a shelf, would be a real style statement. Their tea tins come in either minimalist monochrome or a romantic powder blue, and the steel canister keeps the exquisite loose leaves inside nice and fresh. http://stormandindia.com
